River has many areas
where you can fish. This river does produce some large
fish; Northern Pike to 20 plus pounds, Walleye to 14lbs.
There are always opportunities to catch other game fish such as:
Goldeye, Rocky Mountain Whitefish, Burbot, or even Grayling.
The Alberta record Walleye was caught in the Athabasca/Pembina
River, just over15 lbs. We fish in the Athabasca
County, Smith (Lesser Slave River) region, and the Fort
Assinboine region. At times this river is as good as a
fly-in fishing lake and only a 90 minute drive from Edmonton,
makes a great day trip. Best times to reserve your fishing
trip on this river are June 1st to June 20th and between mid
July to October 31st.

Halfmoon Lake NaturalArea is located approximately 45 minutes north of Edmonton. As
you walk along the trails, you will be surrounded by a variety
of landscapes: from a
jackpine forest
to
an aspen forest to a semi-arid plain; or you can also enjoy a
small hike off the main trail which leads to a lake.
Within these landscapes, you may
encounter deer, moose, coyotes, and a variety of birds.
While hiking, don't forget to stop and try some of the wild
berries along the way.
Enjoy a day of hiking either at

Both of these areas are located
approximately
2 hours northwest of Edmonton. As you take a hike in any
one of these two areas, you will be able to unwind and enjoy the
peace and quiet it offers. You will also come to
understand why precious areas such as these are protected.

Muskeg Creek
Trails
has over 17 km of trails that wind their way
through the Muskeg Creek Valley, accessible from either the
chalet near Landing Trail Intermediate School, or from Athabasca
University. From spring through autumn, the trails are
ideal for walking, jogging or bird-watching. In winter,
the trails are groomed for cross-country skiing.
Snowshoeing
or Cross Country Skiing is a wonderful winter activity which provides an excellent opportunity
for
individuals to get out of the house, to enjoy the outdoors, and
to take full advantage of the benefits of winter. As you
snowshoe or cross ski along the established trails and explore the area of
choice, you will be surrounded by the beauty and serenity of the
majestic winter landscape(s). You will come across many
wonderful opportunities to view a variety of birds which
continue to reside or remain in the area over the winter months
and/or other wildlife that continue to roam during the winter.
