There are always opportunities to catch other game fish such as: Goldeye, Rocky Mountain Whitefish, Burbot, or even Grayling. The Alberta record Walleye was caught in the Athabasca/Pembina River, just over 15 lbs. We fish in the Athabasca County, Smith (Lesser Slave River) region, and the Fort Assinboine region. At times this river is as good as a fly-in fishing lake and only a 90 minute drive from Edmonton, makes a great day trip. Best times to reserve your fishing trip on this river are June 1st to June 20th and between mid July to October 31st.
